I don't know if anyone listens to this, but I'm subbed to it.
However something odd is going on. An item called of skunks and telescopes
keeps being flagged up as downloading, never gets any bytes, and so I
delete it, and then it comes back again.
Weird?

In a way we are all "blind" here Brian, because we do not know which
podcast you are referring to or what software you are using. I did some
digging because this intrigued me, hope you find the following helpful...
There is a podcast titled "Science@NASA" advertised at
http://science.nasa.gov/podcast.htm
which indeed has an article titled "Of Skunks and Telescopes". However if
you subscribe to the Podcast XML you would not see that three links are
offered with this article: one to an MP3 file, one to an M3U playlist for
streaming (such a playlist is nothing but a simple text file with a URL
for the MP3) and one to a transcript file in HTML. It is on the webpage
mentioned above but not in the Podcast "feed".
The link to the MP3 is this:
http://science.nasa.gov/audio/podcast/y2007_xrcf_story.mp3
and it is indeed dead. It gives a very ugly "this file cannot be found"
page when you try it in a web browser. I assume this is where your
Podcast software fails, too. Someone obviously made a mistake there.
However the link to the playlist works, you can open it in a media player
or web browser:
http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2007/images/xrcf/audio/story.m3u
The playlist points to:
http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2007/images/xrcf/audio/story.mp3
you can open that directly, too (or download it first). Note it is a
different location than the one given for the Podcast MP3.
The transcript can be found at:
http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2007/10aug_xrcf.htm
Oh, and I tried those before I started typing this message, and now only
a few minutes later the server does not respond at all anymore when I try
those links again (except the playlist, that still works).
So either someone is working on it or... not.

hanks for that, explains it then, the person who did the podcast link must
have made a typong error...
I'm using Juice by the way.

I think I've fixed the problem with the missing file. It was due to a
hiccup in the automation system.
