Astronauts arrive at Cape, T-38s?

It seems they arrive all together aboard one plane, what happen to the T-38?

They take the Gulfstream instead of the T-38s if the weather is spotty.

I watched it live. The commentator stated that they took the
Gulfstream due to weather. Normally they would take the T-38's.

When they do that, who flies the Gulfstream? Another Astronaut or non-
astronaut but pilot employee of NASA??

Seeing as they're on the Shuttle Landing Trainer does the pilot get to do a
practice approach?

Might as well if they're up there anyway.

Practicing a shuttle approach in the STA requires setting the thrust
reversers, to simulate the flying qualities of the orbiter.

Since the reason they're in the STA in the first place is weather, that
doesn't strike me as a safe thing to do.
