Pardon me if I'm not up to speed with all the rest of you space
fans.  I was just marveling at how nice the video is from the NASA web
site.  I watched today's landing from the decision point just before
the de-orbit burn ... all the way to landing with no interruptions.
Not bad for a poor slub like myself with a laptop ' borrowing '
Internet from my neighbor through wifi. ( he he )  I remember back in
the mid 1990's when I had my first computer on the web ... and when an
important event at NASA was taking place ... it was like forget it !
Ahh ... the days of dial up.  Gives me a headache just thinking about
it.  Interesting to note that the feed from the web is about 30 seconds
behind the live t.v. coverage.

Nice landing space shuttle crew.  Nice to have you home for the
holidays.  And Merry Christmas everyone =]

Less delay on Real feed than there is on Win media feed I noticed.

You are correct Brian, I noticed the same thing. BTW if you are watching via
Dish Network you experience 2-3 second delay due to the their need to relay
the feed to their satellite and back to your receiver. That seems like a
backwards process to me. But I digress...
I remember the "old days" when I used to sit in front of my Commodore 64
with a 300 baud modem. Took an hour to receive a photo, and forget streaming
video, or even music.

Yes, CC

I agree.   It was thrilling to watch the STS-116 landing on the web
and hearing the commentary in my headphones...
The shuttle astronauts have always been heroes to me.
They are out there doing exciting positive things with
technology which inspires millions...

That's why I can't understand posts on nasawatch or other
places where they say the younger generations are not turned
on by the space program... i think this is the media's opinion,
not backed up by fact..

Isn't it cool that that ISS is up there all the time and that
humanity has a permanent space presence in 2006 ?
