Ed, your beautiful artwork got me to wondering...

Did Bruce McCandless actually turn his field of view away from the
shuttle during an untethered EVA?

I spoke to the man once, years ago.  I never thought to ask him this
question.  All the MMU photos I've seen had the astronaut facing the
shuttle or at least a satellite.  The canvas is great for capturing
angles that no camera could.  Flying untethered without your spacecraft
in view would have to make for an intense experience.
