Hi, with the tripping of a breaker on yet another Gyro, is there a plan to
maybe take a second one ofn the Shuttle? Seems to me that that controller
they fitted may be dying from whatever killed the first one, namely, one
assumes, something dodgy on the gyro itself.

Appears not; over in .station, Jacques kindly posted the blurb that
includes this quote:
"Gerstenmaier said the power control module has 17 channels and that a
suspect transitor believed to be susceptible to failures in identical
devices used throughout the station apparently caused the gyro circuit to
trip open Wednesday. An identical failure knocked CMG-2 off line last year,
requiring Fincke and Expedition 9 commander Gennady Padalka to replace the
unit last summer."

There isn't any 'second one'.
plan is to have four aboard, and a fifth in the repair shop,
rotating via shuttle up/down.

I did the the up close tour a month a go and was in the gallery at the SSPF.
Sitting across the bay were two items that were identified as CMG's. I
posted a while back asking if there was a second one there and no one ever
commented. I have pic from the visit. Don't have anyway of posting it,
other than attaching it here. I won't do it now unless someone would like
to see it.

Thanks for doing this Derek. I had a flash of lucidness when I was looking
at it again. Could the second piece be the carrier?
