Thanks Tim,

Is this mainly a "drive by tour"? how close do you get to the locations
listed?

Yes that sums it up well.
Close enough for a good look but it can be too brief.  The right side of the
bus gets the better look driving by the crawler yard and VAB.

Thanks again Tim,

Just planing our 3rd trip to Orlando in April and wondered if I would get to
see anything different on the up close tour to my previous 2 trips to KSC:

1992 - Standard tour very good, stopped by Crawler yard to peer through
fence and the Saturn 5 outside near VAB. Stopped at observation area near
coast and was lucky enough to view STS-52 Columbia on PAD 39B.

2000 - Tour was disappointing compared with 1992 just drove past OPF's, VAB
& crawler yard. with stops at the new pad viewing gantry, Apollo/Saturn V
center & ISS center

Visiting for 2 weeks from 4 April - what's the chance of seeing STS-114 on
the Pad?

She'll be out there by then - whether or not the bus will drive by on the Up
Close tour is another question entirely.  The next launch is from pad B so
the look from the observation gantry is a long one.  Then again, closer from
the Saturn Center.

All the times I've been out there I've never been on the UC tour and been by
a shuttle on the pad.
Then I got hired and got to get IN one;)  What other stuff are you going to
try to do here, and what part of UK are you from - anywhere near Stansted?
I've spent a bunch of time there and long to get back to Cambridge...
Aaah, Cambridge...

Can you say any more about being in one?

The main tourist bits - Disney, Universal, Seaworld - normally (well on both
previous trips) pop out to KSC for a day to get away from the theme parks -
Wife loves Disney/Seaworld - I love KSC, that was my reason for asking about
the up close tour not sure how wife would put up with another visit to KSC
to see the same things again, although says she enjoys it - the possibility
of seeing one on the pad again seemed to get her enthusiasm going more!

Straying more off-topic also got tickets for Magic against the Pistons -
always wanted to take in a basketball game
>and what part of UK are you from - anywhere near Stansted?

About 150 miles south - I live just 20 miles from the south coast
(Portsmouth)

mmm A UK winter or Florida winter I know which one I would choose ;-)

Starting to stray off-topic here - if you wish use my email address and not
disturb the newsgroup, just remove the DEAD FISH to make valid.
