To be replaced by a study of future manned options. The present nasa funding is
to all be directed into robot operations and planetary operations. The eventual
manned launcher will be a modest rework of a apollo or gemini sized craft, to
service a small man tended station that will be robotically operated much of
the time. Just a occasional service call for repair and resupply.

If his political power is as strong as his pitching arm then he's on a
loser. Did you see that first pitch at Fenway last night?? Like a big
jessie!!!

It was on the florida today website but disappeared.:( I wonder if this is what
kerry will talk about tonight in florida? on his campaign stop?

Ambitious robotic program with orbiters to all planets, and robot crawlers to
all non gaseous planets, including merrcury. venus lander, but admittely it
will have a short life. robot crawlers to the moon with a comm sat for back
side operations. attempt to find the remains of the apollo 11 LM upper stage
and recover some pieces.along wiith a distant look at 11 lower stage remains
sample returns from all non gas planets. KSC would be busy with a launch a week
avearge for a variety of probes. A investigation of a nuclear engine for deep
space probes to places like pluto and unmanned mission even futherr.

All paid for by the scrapping of ISS shuttle. Although ISS will be offered as
gift to international partners, who can either continue it or we will de orbit
it safely in the pacific.

If you get past the ending of most manned space the rest is pretty exciting...

I've been a vocal advocate for manned spaceflight, but the proposal as you
describe it is, indeed, exciting.

Haller is bullshitting again -- no such story ever appeared on Florida
Today, today
or any date.

Guilty as charged, I do wonder, is what I posted a bad thing? If it were true?

as klong as funding remained stable theres so much more we could do. still get
a small manned launcher, ditching the money eating black hole of a station,
while getting a real positive,  orbiters, landers, and robotic crawlers on so
mnany planets, along with a advanced nuclear booster for long distance
operations. the first version for unmanned probes, and later fast transit for
manned missions.

I seriously du\oubt we will get much more than a replacement manned launcher.
so science wise my joke post could be a winner

OK.

Here's a link that works that addresses the topic minus the hallerbian
fantasy:

Was John Kerry influenced by some of the anti-space station rhetoric in
these news groups or just ahead of his time?

If take Cowling's analysis about Kerry's commitment to space based on
his comments on the space station as a good way to discern the motives
and deep feelings of people who post on this newsgroup then I
must say:

If you are anti-ISS you are against manned spaceflight.  If you express
doubts about the proposed Bush Lunar-Mars exploration plans and
their cost you are against space progress.

OK, go read the article, it does raise valid points.  What it doesn't do
is give you very much of a handle on what Kerry might do with regard
to manned space exploration if he is elected.

On the the other hand, if he comes out and says something like
"James Van Allen is right" then you have a point.

Actually I didn't express or mean to express a point, I was just posting an
interesting article on topic.

And for sci.space.station readers, note a reasonable reference above.  :-)

You're such an idiot.  The fact he was at KSC is because he wants to give
the appearance, at least to NASA supporters, that he's interested in space.
The fact that an unflattering photograph made news headlines is an
indication that our media is more interested in the appearance of political
candidates than in their actual political views.

You should have realized this Bob, since you're the king of appearance
trumping fact on these newsgroups.

There's really no way to take a flattering picture in one of those damn bunny
suits.

Shades of Dukakis driving a tank in a helmet with "MIKE" penciled in on

I recall well the video of Dukakis riding in the tank, with his helmeted
head sticking up out of the hatch on top of the tank.

Look at what I just found... he he!
