Ken's book has finally made it to the GPO.  I think it's a great book
and everyone should buy a copy, but It's kind of expensive,

Here's the URL for the GPO:
http://bookstore.access.gpo.gov/

Enter "iliff" in the search box and you'll get the right location,
since there aren't that many Iliffs writing government documents.

Ken started at Dryden in 1962 and retired in 2003.  He worked on all
of Dryden's vehicles during that time.  This book has a lot about the
X-15, lifting bodies, Orbiter, and similar projects.  The jacket has
paintings by Marc Pestana, who is a research test pilot at Dryden.
There are about a hundred photos in 421 pages.

We're going to get our first copy this afternoon; we haven't seen it
yet.  I'm so excited about this, I just can't say.  I just hope it
looks as good as I think it should.

Just ordered it up.  They say 2-3 weeks.

$55.00 US doesn't seem too expensive for a good book.  It is a good book,
isn't it?

By the way, the material below is the on-line description of the book.  They
claim he worked to 2002; you say 2003.  Whom do I believe?  ;-)

Well, I think so, but I'm very biased.  The cover paintings are
beautiful.  The photos in the text came out well, too.

He worked until 3 Jan 2003, which was still in the 2002 leave year.
You know how the retirement system regards the first three days of the
month.

Grr, shame they don't take international orders.

Actually, they do... just not online; have to call them:

http://bookstore.gpo.gov/support/shipping.html#international

They note a 40% surcharge is tacked on for international orders, though.
