Hi everyone. I'm working on the propulsion system for a small student
built satellite as part of the university nanosat competition and I was
hoping you could help point me in the right direction.
I've been trying very hard to find specific information on actual
attitude control systems of satellites. All I've been able to find in
my university library is information on attitude control algorithms &
control theory (which isn't my job for now), and not much of anything
on hardware, testing & design of ACS's. Space Mission Design and
Analysis (SMAD) has some information on design but not with the sort of
depth I'm looking for. I would like something that discusses the
advantages, disadvantages, tradeoffs between various thruster
configurations, or momentum wheels, and magnetic torquers from a systems
perspective. I'm guessing that much of this information resides in the
heads of actual ACS engineers or is written in company documentation
not generally available to the public. Is this right or am just not
seeing it?
Are there any good references out there that I've missed?
