I am ready to test an audio streaming Client/Server SETI system.  Anyone out
there ready to help?  If so download and install the remove client from:
http://www.seti.net/SETINet/SETINet.htm

Then email me for the next instructions.
Put SETI in the subject to help my spam filters.

First test of the Remote SETI client/server with streaming audio was a
success.  A user in Tulsa OK was able to aim my San Diego antenna at a sky
point, set the receiver frequency and listen to the signal on his home
computer.

IT WORKS...

Great stuff.

What happens next?

Can you set up your own directed "s@h" search? Something project phoenix
style?

(Or am I racing light years ahead?? ;) )

Next - Let me think...

*  I want to have streaming video of the antenna - just for grins.
* Then I need to integrate the audio server and antenna server into one
client.  It's to hard to install now.
* Although I can stream MP3 audio the compression kills just the sort of
signal we are looking for so I need to automatically save the audio in WAV
format so that it can be worked over with a fine tooth comb.
* The WAV file must be archived to my web site and indexed so that anyone
can download it and work on it.  I know how to index WAV files into
submission already (grin), SML does that.
* I want to add a spectrum analyzer and waterfall display to the client.
Then anyone will have all the capabilities they need to do a search of there
own.

Lots of stuff still to do...

Nice, but that could just be a 'webcam' upload to some site using
already freely available software.

Sounds good.

Or look at other compressions. Use lossless compression such as flac? Or
just send out fewer bits as is done with s@h WUs.

OK, good.

There's audio apps that have this already coded.

:)

Is this all general enough so that other receivers can be added?

One thought with the auto-controls is to have two or more antennas all
look at the same point but from widespread physical locations so that
Earth RFI can be immediately eliminated...

Good stuff,

Martin
