Since last December when I finally moved in to the top 1% of users, I
have been tracking my stats. Since that time, I have consistently
moved up in my place rank (then at 28688th place and I had completed
more work units than 99.306% of users).

By Aug 27th, I had steadily moved up to 15454th place - usually tied
with several other users, and had moved ahead of 99.667% of users.

All of a sudden, sometime between Aug 27th and Aug 29th, I dropped
nearly 200 places to 15645th place and ahead of 99.663% of users. I
don't understand as there has never been a drop since I started
recording this.

I realize this sounds like a minuscule drop but keep in mind that with
over 4.5 million users, that .004% drop represents more than 18,000
users jumping ahead of me in just a day or two.

Since yesterday, (as I type this it is Aug 30 @ 8:41am) I have moved
up 52 places and gained .001% point, so it seems we are back on track
- but I wonder what happened.

Ideas?

The SETI stats aren't all updated at once, or on a regular basis.
Used to be once a week, but seems to be longer lately.
There was or still is corruption in the databases.
As well as problems with the scripts.
Team stats and top teams have been messed up for a long time.
I'd just use SETI stats as a rough guideline.
Try www.setiatwork.com
it's based on better data and uses averages.
Also  information  from the program SETITeam is more accurate than SETI.

The user stats database wasn't updated from around the 18th of Aug to the
28th of Aug. During that time we were submitting results into a static
database.

Between 280239GMT Aug and 281509 GMT Aug I went from 8942 units completed at
rank 14603 and 99.686% to 8943 units completed at rank 14838 and 99.681%.
