Its user unfriendly. I have to pull the plug out of the wall to shut it
off. It makes my Webtv look lije something out of the future. Who needs
a mouse?. Who needs an arrow flying around on the screen? Have my web

laptop virus free. This begs the question "IS this progress? Go figure

Bert,
I bet it's easier to use than you think.
Sounds like you need a nice patient
tutor to show you its tricks ...
... then you might fall in love with it.

Bert,
Twitterer is right. All you need is a tutor-er. Seriously. I
have a snazzy 'real' computer running Windows XP on DSL and love it.
It's great for lots and lots of stuff where connection speed is
paramount, such as playing videos. But i'll tell you this- nothing beats
the old Webbie rig for posting to NGs. The faihful, reliable old girl is
still good for what she's good for.. while the hot 'New' phillie is
tedious, tempermental and tiring when it comes to NGs. If all you want
to do is NGs, stick with the Webbie rig. But bein's you got a new
computer, get a tutor. It'll open up a whole world of wonderful new
stuff for you.
Another reason for using the old rig for NGs is as a spam
trap. That way, the new rig doesn't get contaminated with spam. For
example,
Header address is a spam trap. E-mail: oldcoot7074 at sbcglobal.net

Twitty I know its me. I have a mental block using this laptop. Its like
my mental block on learning how to spell and construct a sentence. I'm
thinking of having my grandsons come to Florida to show me how to use
it. They were taught in school when they were 8 Bert

Bert, those of us who learned to use a PC using the DOS operating
system said these same thing when WINOWS came out. But now I wouldn't
be without it.
Find on your Start-Up Menu the online tutorial, which will be something
like "Wecome to WINDOWS". It may have come up automatically the first
time you powered up. That will step you through the basic things you
need to learn to run your machine. It's a computer, Bert. It's not
for dummies.

Or you could save the $60 and hobble along with a crippled machine like
I do! (But being an ex-systems programmer helps me keep it going.)
This begs the question "IS this progress? Go figure
> Bert
Well, you are having to learn, aren't you? That's progress!
Double-A

My mom was 3 years old when she got her last WindowsXP based machine.
She misses her shell account. alas there are fewer ISP offering real
access.
