Double-A asked me how high Sugar Loaf mountain is?  This week I hope to
climb to its summit.,and there should be a plack as to its height.
Those that read my posts know time and distance means little to me when
bringing out our universe's distances.  Like a lot of astronomer's
believe after 25 billion light years you can think infinity. I go with
22 billion LY           I don' take the road to the top of this
mountain,I go up through its great trees. Its floor is pine, oak red
maple, and spruce. It smells so good. It has lots of those cuddly black
bears.   When you have gators in your back yard a black bear seems like
a pet.   Bert

You can drive right to the top, and you're walking???

This reminds me of back in college when our physics prof gave us a
scenario where we were climbing a mountain, and people who had driven
to the top started throwing rocks over the side!  By counting the
seconds that passed between the time the rocks whizzed past us and when
they hit the bottom, he wanted us to calculate how much further we had
to climb!  You could probably use this method to calculate the
elevation of the mountain too, but in your case I hope it doesn't come
up.

Yeah, those black bears are nice.  Just don't get in between a mother
bear and her cubs!

Double-A driving to the top of a mountain is like cheating. I( drove to
almost the top of "Look out Mountain that overlooks Denver, and climed
the last 300 feet. The view was breath taking it over looked Coors
Every mountain I ever saw I wanted to get to its top. feel bad I never
made it to the top of Mt. Baldy. Feel worse that Sinartra's mother, and
Martin's son both died hitting that mountain.  Mt. Eli I went through
its tunnel(near the top) on a recorded breaking hot day.  Mountains make
the Earth's surface beautiful. Lake Tahoe says it all   Bert

There are a few mountains around here I would like to climb before I
get too old to do it, but I would want to lose some weight and get in
better shape before I attempted it.  One of them, Larch Mountain, you
can drive to the top and there's a picnic area.  It's over 4000 feet.
I've been to the top many times but never climbed it.  See:

http://www.localhikes.com/Hikes/Larch_Mountain_6442.asp

When I was much younger I climbed a mountain that is right beside it
and is almost as high.  But there was nothing at the top except forest.
Rousted one bear as I was snacking on some huckleberries.  I nearly
got lost in the woods as it started to get dark.  It took me hours to
walk/run down the trail in the dark!  After a few days I got such a
pain in my leg that I could barely walk for weeks.  That trail is not
as many miles, but much steeper than the Larch Mountain trail.  A real
killer!

Of course for the really high mountains around here like Mt. Hood, you
need climbing gear and training to get to the top.  I used to date a
girl who climbed most of those high Mountains.  Also worked with her.
At times she could barely walk either.  Getting enough air to breath is
also a problem when you get above 10,000 feet or so, and some people
get sick.  Anyway, I never got into that extreme mountain climbing, and
the girl dumped me for one of her mountain climbing friends.
