Saul Levy - 22 Aug 2008 12:24 GMT Even the Farmer's Almanac is predicting that next winter will be a cold one!
That's Global Warming for ya! Such BULLSHIT!
I first reported that we have been in a cooling period for the past 8-10 years. More and more evidence is accumulating that this is correct.
The Farmer's Almanac isn't always correct, but they probably beat BEERTbrain's predictions. Who ya gonna believe? The Almanac or BEERTbrain?

G=EMC^2 Glazier - 22 Aug 2008 13:16 GMT Cactus Saul I do better than my local meteorologist. He likes to predict using percentages, like 50% yes and 50% no. I never fudge I call it like my brain sees it. I like being a weather man. Thank you nightbat bert
Saul Levy - 23 Aug 2008 00:16 GMT Snowfall in Tucson last January, BEERTbrain? Was that a 100% prediction?
You were right once and wrong once. Does that average at 50%?
Neither time did I make any snowballs! You get 0% for that one.

Earth will never again see an ice-age, not even 10% of an ice-age.
Our Selene/moon contributes 2e20 N worth of tidal force, and that's per each and every second. Go figure how that much tidal flex energy which distorts the crust of Earth by 55 cm doesn't create Earth geophysical heat, not to mention the secondary/recoil worth of the Selene/moon IR.

[quoted text clipped - 10 lines] > > Saul Levy Isn't that why it's called a "trend", Saul? A Global Warming "Trend"?
Over short periods it's expected that there will be many periods of cooling during the overall warming trend. And since the Pleistocene has had altogether about three major cooling and then warming trends, it's very possible that the present trend is warming.
Thing is, in a billion years it won't matter. Because the Sun is slowly and steadily getting brighter and brighter, the "overall - overall" trend is definitely a warming trend. The Sun will get so bright in one billion years or so, that the water will all evaporate, and life is not expected to survive.

Since we know the job has to be done, perhaps we need to start developing the thrusters now to slowly move the Earth farther from the Sun over the next billion years so that things remain comfortable.. It will take a lot of thrusting, but fortunately we have lots of time to do it.

I kid you not. It'll take some effort and interactive applications of tethered CM(counter mass) elements for keeping our Selene/moon situated within the halo orbit of Earth L1, but it's technically doable. That'll buy us 3+% of shade and perhaps an extra billion years before becoming toast, as well as giving our badly over- populated Earth those essential 100 teraWatts of clean and renewable energy.

BradGuth - 24 Aug 2008 16:51 GMT > Cactus saul Global warming is putting more and more water in our > atmosphere. Reality is you do not have the wit to get out of the rain. > Sad but true Bert In cool places that extra 50 teratonnes of atmospheric water from AGW and NGW has to fall as snow. Unfortunately, that snow doesn't stick around, much less build glaciers. Go figure.
All we'll need to accomplish is to relocate our Selene/moon from it's relatively nearby orbit, out to station-keeping within Earth L1.
I kid you not. > Read as much or little of this as you want. You couldn't have done > this search yourself? I got 12,000,000 hits! My roommate is a well-traveled skydiver. He has gone on skydiving trips to both poles. North pole skydiving trips are becoming more and more rare, for it is more and more difficult to find areas of surface ice large enough for a safe landing zone.

Saul Levy - 27 Aug 2008 09:16 GMT All this says more of which religion of global warming/cooling you adhere to, woofie!
If the ice is melting, where is the sea level rise expected from that? There isn't any. Boaters have seen NO increase at all.
Some glaciers are shrinking, but others are growing. The effects so far are small. Only more time will tell what is going on. CoNflicting statements?

Saul Levy - 28 Aug 2008 13:52 GMT No ocean rise, BEERTbrain? lmao!
You have to be kidding that this is because the atmosphere would have to be SATURATED with water vapor! Obviously, it hasn't changed much!
I'm not talking a LITTLE added water vapor. It would have to be a lot more than that.
You'll have to do a better job! I see some from the remains of Julio, but no general increase in water vapor. The summer here has been a bit dry which shows that your theory isn't happening.

Does that sound unusual? Nope. It isn't. We are in a major drought here. The rainfall was ahead a bit early in the summer, but now we've been behind for a month or more.
Had a beautiful display of lightning last night (from Julio and other sources). It really was spectacular! Best I've seen so far this year. Got some rain too, but not the major part of these storms.
Even I can see that BEERTbrain's increase in water vapor and heavy air isn't happening here! Yet he still claims that it is.
Lots of hurricanes lately? Sure. But that's normal, it's hurricane season! Some years don't do much. This year is making up for that.
