Just read a Hawking book that describes 'branes'. These, as I
understand it, are parallel universes that are existing in another
dimension that we are not aware of. He suggests that these are very
close to us - just mm away. Can anybody explain to me how this works
practically? Does this brane take up a shape of 'our' universe and
every time I move my hand 1mm forward the brane retreats so that i
don't bump into it? I don't doubt that the theory works ok
mathematically but I cannot fathom how it works in our earthly
existence!

Its only a theory based on String and or Superstring Theory..

The equation that string theory is based on was derived from The Gamma
Function and its calculus..

The gamma function is modelled in part to the Electromagnetic spectrum
(Light)that refers to the upper and or higher frequencies..

BTW has anybody ever watched those squiggly strings on an oscilloscope when
one is observing a frequency?
Funny how they emulate those Mathematical Strings isn't it! <ROTFLOL>
