How do I get the 'M' labels for Messier objects in The Sky V? I seemed to
have turned on all the label options one would need, but nothing. Common
Names with Messier checked under Setup Labels.

Do you have the Messiers added in your Sky Database Manager?

Select Data -> Sky Database Manager...

If "Messier Objects" is not there and checked, you need to add it.

Yes, it's selected. Perhaps I need to have the CD in the machine? I'll try it.

It made no difference whether the CD was there. It looks like the M objects
all appear as blue circles. Maybe something else is overriding the settings.

I think I had this problem once before, but certainly don't recall how I
fixed it.

Do you have all of them checked in the Filters dialog?

Select View -> Filters

You have various things that should be checked.  For example, "Mixed Deep
Sky".

I have planetary nebula checked, for one, and when I look at M57 in Lyra it
just shows a blue circle w/o any name. The name and label appears in the
usual info box when I click on the point, as expected.
